Father God, we thank you for the victory that comes through the cross of Jesus Christ, Lord God, and through your faithfulness to lay down your life for us. Thank you, Jesus. And Father, we thank you that your will be done, O God, on earth, in and through us this day.

0:44 As it's being done and declared forever and always in heaven, And I thank you, Lord, for giving us courage, wisdom, understanding, and to understand what it is that you would have us to do, that we can walk in the plan, the perfect plan, the purposes to which you have called us. And I bind the powers of darkness that would come against us this day and in the days ahead, the days behind, that the works of darkness would be brought into the light and that they would be crushed by the head crusher. We thank you, Jesus, that you came as the head crusher and you're about to finish the job that you started over 2,000 years ago. And I thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving us wisdom. I thank you for giving us an encouragement in our hearts, joy in our heart, faith, breakthroughs in our faith, breakthroughs in our prayers, Father, breakthroughs to bring us to the place of rich fulfillment.

1:29 And I thank you, Lord Jesus, for the coming of the revelations today, for you said you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. So thank you for wisdom, divine wisdom, revelation, instruction, and by the power of your Holy Spirit, you do this day for us, Father God, in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Well, the word fulfillment has been coming to mind, and in the context of Luke, Can I just say about fulfillment, it's a perfect time for the end of the year to talk about fulfillment and the fulfillment. Something seems to be fulfilled, something's not fulfilled. Or things yet to be fulfilled, and so we're right at that precipice right now where we're into the next year. And so we want to see what God has done, is saying, and will do.

2:15 Well, let's look at Luke 1, verse 39. Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste to a city of Judah and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth, because they were husband and wife, Zacharias and Elizabeth. And it happened when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb, which was John the Baptist, right? And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she spoke out with a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

2:56 But why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And then verse 45, blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord. I'm reading from the New King James Version. In the King James Version, it says, for there will be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. In other words, what the Lord has told you, that exactly is what he's going to do.

3:37 Right. And I think this becomes an interesting situation. It's called faith. What did God say? What did God promise? What did Mary understand of what the angel was saying to her? And Elizabeth, too, she was prophetic at that moment, saying God is going to fulfill it. I remember when the angel Gabriel came to Mary, and she was kind of stunned, I suppose, shocked. And then she says, well, how is this going to be? And the angel Gabriel said, nothing shall be impossible with God. And so I think this is where we go when God gives us a promise. We look at the promises. We look at the problems, the obstacles, and we say, what? How can this be? And then he says, nothing is impossible. Well, let's look for a bit at what the word from God came through Gabriel to Mary in Luke 1.28.

4:28 There's so many things that he said here and promised. And having come in, the angel said to her, rejoice. So he tells her, rejoice, your highly favored one. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women. So he's pronouncing a blessing. He said, rejoice. But when she saw him, she was troubled at this saying and considered what manner of greeting this was. And the angel said to her, do not be afraid, Mary. So he said, don't give in to fear. Right, right. For you have found favor with God. You're in God's favor. This is what he is saying specifically to her. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son and she'll call his name Jesus. It's like, whoa.

5:14 Lots of information here right now. Oh, my, oh, my. Think of it, two minutes before that, she had nothing of this on her mind. No, no. The mother of the Son of God. An angel bursts in on her. And, I mean, it's amazing she just didn't freak out and not able to talk at all. Right. But she, you know, anyway. Yeah, conversation with an angel. That's kind of up there. Yeah, and verse 32, he will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. Wow. And he will reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there will be no end. It's like. This is, I mean, how do you grasp all this stuff?

5:58 This is the word of the Lord to Mary. It's a promise. It hasn't happened yet, but he's telling her what's God's plan and what's going to happen. And is she willing? That's basically why the angel is sent there. Are you willing to go along with this plan? Verse 34, then Mary said to the angel, how can this be since I do not know a man? And the angel answered and said to her, the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the highest will overshadow you. Therefore also that holy one who is born will be called the son of God. It's like my, oh my, oh my. Verse 36, now Elizabeth, your relative, or as King James would say, cousin, has also conceived a son in her old age.

6:44 This would be John the Baptist. And this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God, nothing will be impossible. And then you mentioned, Marjorie, just a moment ago, the cooperation of Mary to go along with this. Verse 38, Mary said, Behold, the maidservant of the Lord, let it be to me according to your word. And the angel departed from her. So it's like, whoa, this is just an amazing word, a powerful word. It is amazing. And yet the angel gave her a clue. He said, here's how you're going to know. The first verification of that word was, your cousin is pregnant.

7:32 And this woman, Elizabeth, very, very old. So Mary immediately wanted to go and see if that was correct. I mean, not to say that she doubted the angel because she had already agreed with the angel and yielded her will to him, thy will be done. But so when God gives us a word, he also gives us, this was a word of knowledge because there's no telephones and there's no, so she had to go see. And when she found out it was true, it confirmed the rest of what the angel had said to her. Well, it's an encouragement to her faith too because he said, okay, I'm not. Your cousin, your relative Elizabeth, she's past childbearing stage, and now she's going to have a child.

8:13 And so if he can do it for a woman past childbearing, way past childbearing age, he can do it for someone who is a virgin. Yeah, that's exactly right. So the first thing now, so applying this to us, and I love that promise, the fulfillment, the rich fulfillment, the promise of what God is saying to us, to you, and going on a journey with God to that place of completion, whatever that is. And our lives are very, sometimes we're on these white rafted, white rapids water rides, and we don't know how we're going to get to the end of this thing because by the time we get through half of the torture, like Paul was talking about in Corinthians, we're perplexed.

8:59 I think I'm going to read it. Persecuted but not cast down. In despair but not, you know, all those. Right. I love those. Anyway, this is our journey, and Paul was there too. He said, 1 Corinthians 4. For this present hour we both hunger, we thirst, we're poorly clothed, we're homeless, beaten, we labor with our hands being reviled, we bless, being persecuted, we endure, being defamed, we entreat. We haven't made the filth of this world. And so the thing is, these persecutions come. These trials come. When God gives a word for fulfillment, the promise, like with Abraham too, he was given the promise, and then all hell breaks loose, basically.

9:46 Well, when Paul received that call from God, he said, you know, I'm going to show him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake. So there was a promise that it's going to be a rough ride for you. Rough ride, yeah. It's not going to be easy. You're going to turn people from darkness to light. You're going to go to the Gentile world, bring in the gospel. But it's going to be a very, very rough ride. Yeah. And well, at least he— That was part of the promise. And I think Mary was warned, too, when they went to the temple. They brought baby Jesus in. Simeon said to her, a sort of sorrow is going to pierce your heart. And so that was foretelling so that the thoughts of many could be revealed.

10:29 In other words, Jesus Christ, her own son, was going to have to die a bloody, gruesome death. That she's going to have to watch on the cross so that he can complete his task of bringing many to salvation. So she's highly favored by God. The angel tells her to rejoice and that, you know, you're going to be the mother of the Messiah. You're going to be the mother of the Son of God, but you're going to go through a lot of pain along with it. Well, that's a high calling. There's a high calling. Whenever there's a high calling, there are obstacles. And one of the first obstacles, I think, is the reasoning. Like, Mary, how can this be? Or who am I? Or why do I think this?

11:13 I mean, am I sure I heard from God? I think that's one of our problems is, did I really hear from God? And that is an area that we, maybe we're jumping ahead a little bit here, but. So there's some people that really think they've heard from God on something, and they really haven't. Well, yeah. And sometimes we expect God to fulfill something that he really hasn't told us. It's something we've imagined and hoped for. And this is the problem. And this is where we get into some serious issues. And also, you know, like even with Abraham, I'm just using him as an example. There were many examples, but God tells people to do some pretty strange, crazy things. Like when he said, offer your son, Isaac, or when he said, I'm going to make a covenant with you.

12:02 And I want you to cut these animals in half. And then the fiery torch went through them as God was setting up the covenant with Abraham. And Abraham is there all night trying to keep the birds from attacking these pieces of meat. And then he falls asleep and God creates the covenant, makes the covenant, even fulfills the covenant with himself, and he promises Abraham all these things. So you could look at that and say, God, Abraham's crazy. Did you see that guy did last night, up all night with the sleeping and torches and fire? And sometimes when God makes a promise to us, it looks crazy to everybody else. And then Satan comes to begin to say to you, well, who do you think you are? I mean, this is crazy. You are nuts. You've lost it.

12:45 In Romans 4.21, it says about Abraham that he believed he was strong in faith. He was giving glory to God. He believed that what God had promised, he was able to perform. And sometimes, too, this is something that we wrestle with. We know God is able, but will he do it? Yeah. And there's a leper. Early in the ministry of Jesus, there was a leper that came to Christ and said, And if you're willing to make me clean, if you are willing. And he said, I am willing, be clean. And so sometimes we pray. We pray for something and we say, Lord, if you're willing. And sometimes we know that he's willing and some, you know, it gets to be confusing sometimes.

13:31 Well, it can be. But I think the first thing we need to go back to is the word of God itself. And what does his word say about whatever it is we're believing him for? And does it line up? For example, a lot of people, I think the biggest issue with people receiving answers to prayer that kind of like don't happen a lot or when you're asking for something very critical, whether it's your health or the redemption of someone, salvation, you know, whatever it is. And so when we think we've heard from God and we all have stories on this subject where someone has believed God, we've believed God for them and they believe they're going to live and not die and they didn't live.

14:11 And so we go back to the drawing board and say, well, what did we do wrong? I don't think we do anything wrong. I think the enemy is just, the battle is always between fear versus faith. And, you know, you did not fail if you believed God. And though you didn't receive the physical healing, for example. That doesn't mean you didn't have faith. That doesn't mean you failed it. You know, we think, like in Hebrews chapter 11, going back to the faith chapter, that the strength of our faith is determined by the outcome. So if I get what I prayed for, then I got faith. And if I don't get what I prayed for, then I don't have faith or enough faith. And this is a really bad problem because people are always being challenged on, did I have enough faith? Do I have enough faith?

14:56 The reason I didn't get this is because... But if you have to work with your faith and faith has to be enough, then faith becomes works. It becomes works because then if I don't have enough, then it's my fault that it didn't work. Or the other part of it, yeah, it didn't work or because, you know, if you've got some sin in your life, therefore it didn't happen. Well, you know what? We all have sin in our life, things we don't realize, things God is still working on us to perfect, bring us to deeper revelation. So all of that stuff is God's Holy Spirit working in us both the will and do of his good pleasure. And God doesn't wait till we're perfect in order to use us. Obviously, that's the case with the disciples and with us as well. God, but as you follow him, he perfects that which concerns us.

15:40 So it's not like, oh, I can't do this yet. But going back to the faith thing, the real challenge to faith is when it appears that your faith doesn't work. Then are you going to keep, like Job says, even though he slay me, yet will I trust him. So even though it gets to be that critical and that crazy and that whatever, unexplainable, we're still going to trust God. And that's the bottom line of faith is I'm going to trust God no matter what, because I know he's good. I know he keeps his word. He doesn't lie. He's got another plan. He's got the right plan. And I want to be in sync with his plan. So if you take Mark 16 and 18, for example...

16:23 The last part of that verse, they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. That's the word of God. That's the word of God. So we stand on that promise and there's times we lay hands on the sick and they die. Then what do we do? But we did what we were told to do. Right. And the outcome, and a problem with praying for other people, you know, it's, you know, really the issue becomes almost exponentially difficult when you start to pray for other people. When you pray for yourself and you're standing in the Word of God and you're letting the Lord, the Holy Spirit, help you and you're rebuking the spirit of fear or whatever it is, that's one thing. But when you have to run into or run up against the will of another person to get this, say you're praying for them and they want their back healed, but they have doubt, unbelief, they feel guilty, they have sin, they have generational curses, they have all kinds of stuff going on, and they don't have the faith.

17:18 In other words, they don't have the peace, the revelation to know that they are being heard and that it's going to go through, the request is going to go through. So when we're up against other people's wills, that makes things a lot more complicated. What about other people, too, that are in a situation, there's generational curses that are still operating in them that haven't been dealt with? Well, they all have been dealt with technically at the cross. Right. We're all free through the blood of Jesus Christ. But most people do not go back and claim or demand their rights. They don't demand their rights, the freedom that Jesus gave for us. We stand on experiences and emotions rather than on the truth that Jesus Christ justified the law and whom the Son sits for is free indeed.

18:09 And as we confess our iniquities and do those things God has promised and told us to do, He brings the promises to pass so you can stand with confidence, knowing that you don't have to be perfect, because then again, that goes back to the works rather than grace. And so we're receiving the word of God as he spoke to us by faith, believing it's God's work in us. We are God's workmanship. He's working in us, both the will and do of his good pleasure. And just going back to looking for a minute in Mark, I'm sorry, Matthew, chapter 3 and chapter 4, the very last verse of chapter 3, where Jesus is being baptized.

18:49 By John the Baptist in the Jordan. And the word comes over him, the oversight of the Holy Spirit comes upon him, and he says, and suddenly a voice from heaven came saying, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. That's the last verse of chapter three. Then the first verse of chapter four. Okay. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit, capital S, into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, afterwards he was hungry. And so what was the test, the fiery trial? He was God's son, identified by the word of God over him as he was being baptized.

19:33 But Jesus's identity was forged in the fiery trials in the wilderness, the fire of the wilderness. Jesus Christ had to know that he knew who he was. He had heard it from the Father, but now he had to know that he knew that he was the Son of God, because this is a pretty big revelation. Not everybody comes up with the idea that I'm the Son of God, and those who do, we usually think of them as crazy and need to be put in straitjackets. But Jesus Christ, his identity was forged in this fire where there were. No distractions. The wilderness, there's no way to fill your time. There's no escapes. There's no common comforts. There's not even food to comfort you.

20:17 Everything for him was stripped away. Then he was approached by Satan. He had nothing in which he could comfort himself. And he was going to have to believe that he was the beloved son of God, well-pleased of the Father, just simply by the fact that it's the word of God and what God said. So when we go through these fiery trials. You get the promise. You get the word of God. He's my beloved son. You get the word of God. You know, we're going to do this, this, and this. And then all of a sudden, you go into the crucible. And that's where the dross is burned off and the silver is refined, the gold is refined by that heat, by that pressure. And so Jesus Christ was refined, his forged strength. You know, when you put something into the fire, you forge it. It's made strong.

21:03 And so his identity his call, his being was forged in that wilderness fire with the devil attacking, if you're the son of God, if you're the son of God, identity, identity. Well, then jump down off the top, tempt God if he's good, or worship me, all these things that Satan did to him. Well, the two things that are so important for us is we need to know who God is. And who we are. And who we are. And so our true identity is not determined by our feelings or how we brought up or how we were brought up or the nicknames we were given or how we were cursed by other people. It's we are cursed or even blessed by other people. Our identity comes from who we are in the Lord. Right.

21:48 And so, yeah. The Word of God tells us. And the journey, excuse me, go ahead. Yeah, and the journey. And the journey, I've got to scrub something. Yeah, and the journey is, it's hard many times because it looks like God will say something to us. It's like, okay, it looks like the Word of God has come to us, and then it comes to the place where it looks like it's totally impossible to be fulfilled. With Abraham, right? He's getting older and older. He waits, what, 25 years? 25 years to wait. He's getting older and older. And he said, well, you're going to have a son. You're going to have a son. And Sarah gives him the wrong advice. Let's shortcut this and get an Ishmael.

22:32 So sometimes we just want to make it happen. We want to do something to speed this process up. Or sometimes we come to the place where we just kind of give up. Yeah, exactly. Because we don't realize that God has called us. God will complete what he's begun in us. It's his word, his fulfillment of prophecy. And we are on a journey. And the journey can become the place where the enemy, of course, attacks us. Doubt, questioning, our identity, the call, the truth of God, the word of God. So everything about, our journey, our stay down here in the plant is a test to test us. Satan wants to test us to see if we're really going to believe God and go forward with what God said, no matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like, no matter what people say.

23:21 And so the journey can be that we can become discouraged or you can become encouraged because of the journey. Because, you know, God's allowing Satan to beat on me, so to speak. But if you go to the wonderful revelation in some of the Psalms, Psalm 66, for example, we have verses 10 and 11, for you, O God, have proved us. So part of the journey is to prove us. You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net. You laid affliction on our back. You've caused meant to ride over our heads. We went through the fire and through the water.

24:02 Okay, so what he's saying, this is the journey. This is the purging. This is the purification. This is the forging of the character and the image of Jesus Christ in us. The journey is as important to God as the outcome. You know, you and I are after results. Okay, we want the healing. We want the breakthrough. We want this. But we forget that it is the actual journey that is the most important thing. How are you going to handle this? Are you going to believe God? Are you going to trust God? Are you going to be like, like Peter, you know, he had to be converted into being trusting in God, no matter what he felt like, what it looked like. And then it says, and we went through the fire and through the water and, and you brought us out into rich fulfillment.

24:46 So endurance in chapter Hebrews chapter 12 talks about endurance. Jesus endured the cross, the shame, the despising. We, You know, the journey is the point, is really the point. And the rich fulfillment is the end of the journey. So we're on a journey, so we're not going to give up. We're not going to make it all about failure. Yeah, and it seems like there's failure because there's waiting and there's wondering and there's wandering that goes along with this. and so here's the deal is that.

25:27 But we have the written word of God, right? And God has a plan and a purpose, and it sounds almost like totally trite to say that, but it's true that there is a plan that's being worked out in the midst of all the things that seem very chaotic and demonic that are coming against us. There's a sovereign plan. And the thing is, too, is that there's people, sometimes we just, people just miss it and just think, you know, well, I think I've heard from God. We've met a lot of people that think they've heard from God and go off in a certain direction. It's totally not from the Lord at all.

26:09 Well, even that, even that confusion, even that demonic confusion. You know, false Jesuses and all that stuff, God works all things together for good. So that is part of the journey. That is part of discerning what God is saying. And so again, the Holy Spirit is faithful to do the work he's begun in us. And if we finish reading Psalm 66, the psalmist says, Come and hear all you who fear God, and I will declare what he has done for my soul. I cried to him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear, but certainly God has heard me. He has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

26:51 So, you know, going back to Mary, she did not know all that was going to be, she would have to go through, but she already had committed herself to the journey and to the one who was walking with her on the journey. And even as we see, this is the truth for all of us. It is the journey that makes us who we are, that makes us more like Jesus. And in Isaiah, God is comforting his people again in chapter 41, where he says, let's see, verse 9. Let's see. I'm sorry, verse 10. Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

27:36 Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced. They shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish. And you shall seek them and not find them. Those who contended with you, those who warred against you, shall be as nothing as a non-existent thing. For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying, fear not, for I will help you. Now, we have to realize that on this journey. God, the Holy Spirit, Jesus, they're walking right with us through this journey. They're actually carrying us, if we could even imagine that. Jesus is the way he's walking with us. So we're not alone on this journey. It's not up to me to try to figure out this circumstance or this obstacle or this impediment or this issue.

28:25 It's up to God. And so he says again in Isaiah 43, verse 1, But now, thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and he formed you, O Israel, fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. When you pass through the fire, I will be with you. And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. He says, you are precious in my sight. You have been honored and I have loved you. Therefore, I have given men for you and people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you. I will bring your descendants from the east and gather them from the west.

29:06 I will say to the north, give them up. This is a good one for parents who are crying out for your children to be restored, whether they're in the prodigal or they're lost or whatever. This is where he says, I'm going to bring them back. It's my job to bring them back because I gave them to you in the first place. You say, well, I'm such a terrible parent. I did so many things wrong. Did you want to do those things wrong? No, you did not. But God, knew that the enemy was going to, part of your journey was going to be to have these. Battles to believe him. So remember, in every one of these tests, we're on a journey. The wilderness is forging the image of Jesus Christ. He's forging your identity, the entity of who you are, the son or daughter of the Most High God, through these trials.

29:49 And the journey is the prize. It's what God is using. And not only that, but remember, it is God who is the one taking the test. It is God who is faithful to complete the work that's beginning. He's the one who's faithful to carry you through this so that there's really no time or no reason to faint or give up. So fear says, give up, give up, go away. God doesn't got you. This is all on you. It's all your fault. You're to blame, blah, blah, blah. And God says, no, no, I've got this. I knew from the foundation of the world every moment, every step of this journey that you would be on. And I am with you. I will never leave you. I will never forsake you. I will not leave you orphans. And if we get this kind of an attitude that God is with me, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

30:34 And without him, I can't do anything. You know, if you get this kind of a powerful, you know, way to approach your situation, well, God, here's a problem. What are you going to do about it? You know, here, I need this. What are we going to solve it with? You know, even if it's a health issue, if it's something where you're feeling like, in so many of us, we get into that mode where I've got to do something. I've got to do something. I've got to do something. I've got to try to get to sleep. I've got to try to get better. I've got to try to make these people hear me. I've got to try to take control. I got to try. All this is lies that is getting you off the track that. The truth is God's got this. It's his problem. I'm his child. His word, which you can't go wrong on, says, I will never leave you or forsake you.

31:15 So use God's word, go back to him and say, okay, this, you know, Mary had to do the same thing. Mary had a tough road to hold because she was going to be considered, you know, all these rumors about her, about her, her integrity, her honesty, her purity, all these things she had to suffer watching Jesus be beaten and mocked and scourged and hated. I mean, she took a lot of flack herself with all of that. And yet she made her commitment in the beginning, as have you. Now stay there. Just stay there and let God do the work. Keep walking. You know, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. He's the way. He's the road. Jesus is the road, right?

31:58 And so if we keep our focus on him and recognizing too that God has a sovereign plan, that means it's been established since before the foundation of the world. There's a plan and a purpose for this world, for the human race, and for you and I. It's a beautiful plan. It's rich fulfillment. And it's unfolding, believe it or not, it's unfolding perfectly, but that unfolding is beyond our understanding. It's beyond our expectations. And so sometimes we expect something and it turns out totally different, but it's okay when we realize, when we see it as God. This was God's way.

32:43 We expect God to work with us and for us. We expect that, but the way he does it is different many times than what we expect. Yeah, we always think, well, we've got to be justified by the results, and it worked, and it was successful, and all things came together. We think we've got it figured out. But the thing is, Jeremiah 29, we all know this verse, for I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and go and pray to me, and I will listen to you, and you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. Isn't that kind of the most important thing to have to know that God listens to us? God hears us. God loves it when we cry out and pray and praise him and thank him and rejoice and appreciate what he's done.

33:29 So again, again, relax, rest. The two things you really are, we're really instructed to do basically are to be thankful and rejoice. Yeah, and that's part of trust. That is the evidence of trusting actually. And so, and that God carry you through this time. we pray a blessing upon each one of you, even as we're going into the new year, that this will be a year of rich fulfillment.
