We see it everywhere, but we give you praise and thanks that you are in control of all things. And we declare your will be done, oh God, on earth, in and through us, as it's being done and declared in heaven. I thank you that you give us wisdom and counsel and words to speak, to declare your kingdom come.

0:48 I thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for us, for denying yourself, taking up your cross, And giving an opportunity for us through your death to exchange your death for our death that we might live. And I thank you for giving us power over all the power of the enemy. And I thank you, Lord God, that there's power in our words. You said there's death and life in the power of the tongue. So God, cause us today to use our tongues to build and not tear down. And I thank you, Lord God, that you give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to receive, that every member of our body will work together to bring forth your word. Your truth and your kingdom, your freedom. And I thank you for the divine promises of protection, that no weapon formed against us will prosper, that even in these desperate and urgent hours when everything seems to be unraveling at the seams pretty much everywhere, notice how I used my words there, I pray that this will be reversed and that the people will wake up and that your kingdom, your purposes, your truth will even use these situations and circumstances to bring us to the revelation of freedom and truth. So protect us now, Lord God, our day, our people, everything that pertains to us, those who work for us, pray for us, and love us. Cover and keep us in a quietness of mind and heart that we will not be afraid and that we'll walk in the fullness of your joy. In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. So what are we talking about today, young man? Well, what do you accept that's unacceptable? Pretty much everything. Yeah, a lot of times.

2:16 Whatever things look like, feel like, that's what we accept, right? What are we content to live with and what are we content to live without? Well, that's a good question. So too often we accept the unacceptable in our lives, right? And oftentimes that comes through a programming or through a process where we have been indoctrinated or programmed or spoken over or raised in a situation where we believe that what we have received or experienced is the truth. Yeah. And then there's the Alcoholics Anonymous Serenity Prayer. God grant me the serenity to change the things I can change, accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

2:58 Now, there's a problem there. So many times we think we accept things that could be changed, or we try to change things ourselves. And that also becomes a problem because we see that we fail a lot. So how does actual change and transformation happen in our lives if we're up against, you know, our upbringing, the words spoken over us, for example, and circumstances, how in the world does anything ever be transformed? Well, there has to be a desire for a change, a revelation, a realize, a desire for change, because so, so we can easily get used to and accept things like a messy house or a junk food diet, a boring life. We accept addiction, rejection, abusive relationships, depression, sickness, disease, poverty, pain, fear. A powerless church, people going lost without Jesus Christ. We can easily get used to those things and accept them. And then we just kind of say, well, we give up. It is what it is. We give up. Yeah. And this is, this is the, this is the actual battle. The battle in our mind and heart between our soul and our spirit is, are you going to give up and accept it is what it is? Or are you going to stand and receive your destiny?

4:17 Receive your identity. And first of all, before we can accomplish our destiny, we have to know who we are. That would be our identity. Who am I in Christ? And that is not very well taught or perceived because most people are immersed in the snake pit and all they see is the mud and the filth and the failure and the words and the pain. And they don't realize that there's a rock you can stand on and there's a purpose and a divine purpose and a beautiful life that you can actually live here on this earth as we follow Jesus. And what— think of this— what lies have you believed and accepted about yourself or your, your personal situation or the conditions around you? What do you see in your life that appears permanent, immovable, unchangeable, and hopeless? And like many others, you simply may have given up and just concluded there's no way out of this.

5:09 I've tried over and over again to overcome, and over and over again I failed. And then we get into that settled position, a horrible position where we say it is what it is. Well, you know, I think so many people are trying to change. After a while, you see it doesn't work. You can't sustain it. Like, for example, we make these resolutions. Okay, I'm going to go to the gym every day, or I'm going to, you know, stop drinking this, or I'm going to stop eating that. And you do it for a while, maybe a little willpower there. Maybe it becomes after a while a habit, but ultimately nothing that we make up in our minds to do is sustainable. Unless it's under the power, empowered by the Holy Spirit. So really to have, you know, people change, it starts with not trying to change. It actually starts with not just giving up, but surrendering. And I believe surrendering comes to, brings us to the truth. Now, so going back to identity and destiny, you cannot reach your destiny unless you know your identity and you can't know your identity through the world. The world is not going to tell you that the people around you are not going to tell you, they're not going to They're not going to flash it in front of you. You will find your identity in the Lord, in the Word of God, when he says we're made in the image of God, image and likeness of God.

6:27 So we have to go all the way back, all the way back, back, back to Genesis 1:26-27, where God decided to make us in his image and likeness. And Satan has done everything since then to try to redefine us by what's happening to us, what people say about us, say over us, words they say, programmed, you know, even from infant, even from in the womb actually, to get us to believe a different story about who we are and what's going on. Well, there's an Old Testament example in 1 Chronicles chapter 4, verses 9 and 10, about a guy named Jabez. So what's happening in Chronicles, they're listing genealogies, you know, so-and-so was the father of so-and-so, so-and-so was the son of so-and-so, and it goes on and on and on and on, and it seems like it's a little boring, But then you get to the place where one guy just pops out, and it says, now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez because I bore him in sorrow.

7:26 Now it's interesting, it says he was more honorable. He was— he had more weight. He was not that because he was overweight, because he, he was more honorable than his brothers. Well, I think that means too he was more sincere. He was more meditating on the truths of what's really going on than just blowing through life with an it is what it is kind of attitude. So his mother named him Jabez because I bore him in sorrow. Now, most of the time there's pain with childbirth. That's what I understand. But she named him that. He said she named him one who causes pain or one who causes sorrow. And in that day, usually it was the mother that gave the name to the child, and usually the name wasn't given to the child for like 8 or 9 days after the child was born. So we don't know why she, she names him one who causes pain. I mean, how would you like to have the name one who causes pain, one who causes sorrow? Here comes the sorrow maker, here comes the pain maker. And, and so she probably was going through a very difficult time.

8:35 It could have been her husband died about that time. It could have been she was going through a particularly hard time economically. It could have been— we don't know for sure. It could have been she had a horrible— maybe she was depressed, maybe she had extra anxiety, a negative attitude, you know, difficult delivery, too many children. Or she was— yeah, she was— maybe the baby was colicky or cantankerous, or maybe had some defects. So she names him And basically she's, she's actually putting a curse on him by naming him Jabez. Right. And so, you know, how many of us, um, are named, you know, and, and, or we get these nicknames, we get these phrases that are spoke over us, like you stupid idiot, you rugrat, you're never going to make it, you GD, you know, whatever. Um, so many times, The child is so impressionable when they're tiny like that, young. And every word, especially spoken by a parent or an authority, can be a crushing blow to that person, especially that little one, especially if they don't have any countermeasures to hear the truth. And so I'm sure that Jabez was crushed under the weight of this pronouncement of words. It was like you said, it was a curse put on him. He's making— he's the troublemaker or he's causing pain. Maybe he doesn't want to cause pain. Maybe he really doesn't want it at all, but he's more honorable, but the honor has been buried

10:05 over with these words of shame and condemnation. And that's a lot of times what happens to someone. You are gifted by God with something, some call in your life, some purpose, something God has for you to do. And the devil does everything to surround you, to bury you in the words, the situations, the condemnations of the opposite. So for example, if you're called to be a great giver, you know, uh, the enemy will throw you into poverty and make you believe, you know, I'm never going to make anything out of my life, or I can't do this, or I can't get a good job. Or, I mean, if you're called to be an orator or a preacher, he, the devil may cause you to stammer or stutter like Moses. Um, he said, I cannot speak. And yet he had to speak to Pharaoh. Um, and so whatever it is that the enemy is trying to crush you, keep you from doing, the words, the people, the circumstances and situations around you, like with Jabez, are going to try to hammer you into a mold that will keep you from recognizing your full true identity and potential. And so many people just are stuck in that identity.

11:12 Um, you know, something that was spoken to them when they were young, like you said, that we get stuck in that particular identity. You accept it. The identity, what we think about ourselves, what other people think about us, what other people say about us and what's happened, what's happened in our life, what our experiences are. Um, you know, maybe we've gone through an addiction or I'm an addict or a broken marriage, or I'm, uh, you know, I'm just— or even just as children, even as children. Yes. Even as children. Like for example, diseased. That reminds me of the paralytic in Matthew 9, chapter 1. And so he got into a boat.

11:53 This is verse 1. And so Jesus got into a boat, crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, they brought to him a paralytic laying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic— so these people are all excited about Jesus coming. They're very hyped up. They got— their faith is hot. And then they brought this friend of theirs, this paralytic, to Jesus. And Jesus looked at him. I think this is the one that was lowered down into the roof. Another version will tell you that. But Um, he said, son, be of good cheer. Your sins are forgiven you. A very simple, simple command.

12:37 Um, son, he, so he's reidentifying this. This guy is seeing himself as a paralytic. He's seeing himself as, I can't walk. I can't work. My life is over. You know, I can't provide for my family. Um, I'm, I, how many people are in that place where you've just given up on your life because you just think, I can't, you're a paralytic. Spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, psychologically, or with your relationship. You're trapped, you're paralyzed, you're stuck. You can't get out and you're, and you're there and you're waiting and you cry out and maybe you pray a lot and a little, or, you know, and you don't see God doing anything. And so after a while you just kind of give up and accept your condition. Now acceptance is important if you're accepting the truth, but if you're not accepting the truth, and so this man, Jesus, To get to the problem of being paralyzed, he had to start with addressing the problem of the man's identity. And so he said, son. So go back.

13:33 If you're stuck in who you are, don't like who you are, trying to get out of it, trying to work your way out of it, be better, be whatever you're trying to do to increase or improve yourself. And you're still not making any progress. Go back to your identity and say, well, wait a minute, wait, wait, wait. I am created by God. I'm, I'm not an, I'm not a rock or a rabbit. I am a created son or daughter of the Most High God. God is, he is my Father. He's committed to me. He started this. He's got a plan for my life. I don't know the plan. I am all tangled up here in this mess. And that's where you don't give up, but you surrender. There's a difference between giving up and surrendering. This man, he had given up, but his friends had not. So they brought him to Jesus and Jesus saw their faith and he said, son.

14:21 So this man was restored by the true friendship of his friends who brought him to Jesus. And this is sometimes too, you can be a true friend to someone who you love and who's stuck in this situation, a parent, a child, and bring them back to the love of God and their identity. And that will begin to open up the channels of hope again. And, and peace and, and desire to be who you are created to be. Yeah. And that's another thing too, is we have— a lot of us have an identity. It's a wrong identity about ourselves, right? And we're thinking we need to do something about it, right? So I need to— what? I need to lose weight. I need to work out harder. I need to go to church more. We, we try to do this stuff in ourselves.

15:07 To bring ourselves into an acceptable place, an acceptable place, uh, and, and really to what we can to— some people try to change their identity, but, but, you know, when you try to change your identity on your own, you don't know what identity do you want. Well, what are you trying to change? Who do you want to be and what are you trying to change and how are you trying to change? You're trying to change. You're doing it in your own power, your own will, and it doesn't work. So obviously then some of us have the wrong identity, the wrong concept, the wrong goals, the wrong projection of our life. We're trying to just make it in this world. We're trying to be successful, be loved, admired, accomplished, whatever all that looks like. And a lot of that stuff is just paper. It's nothing. It's wood, hay, and stubble because it doesn't last. It doesn't last. The only thing that's gonna really last is your internal, substance, who you really are in God and what you— and the only way you can really be who you are in God is to do what God really has called you to do and to follow that and to give up on all of this enchantment and wokeism and trying to fix things here, there. And it's just like, we're frantically trying to fix society or fix our lives or fix our relationships or fix our addictions, which we're trying, like you said. But the thing is, It's not working until we surrender. What does that mean? It means I say to God, I can't do this. Tell me who I am. Show me who I am. Get me in your word. Help me to, to, you know, be fed,

16:41 nourished, built up, grow, grow up in your word. This is the only true substance and the only true foundation. The soil of God's word is what we need to be planted in so that we can grow up to be fruitful, uh, vines or fruitful, you know, plants in, in his kingdom. And I, I believe it was the word of the Lord. Somehow Jabez, even though he'd been given this name as painmaker, one who causes pain, and, and basically under a curse, somehow he must have come to realize— excuse me— he must have come to realize he was from the tribe of Judah. He was from the tribe of Judah, which is a tribe that was to be a tribe of blessing, a family of blessing through which— out of which tribe Jesus Christ himself would come. And it's interesting if you go back to when Jacob, who is the father of Judah and the, you know, 12 children of Israel— Jacob, who became known as Israel, he came— I mean, he came known as a deceiver, and he changed His identity was changed to be a truth teller, a follower of God, friends with God. He says in Genesis chapter 49, it says, Judah, you are he to whom your brothers shall praise.

18:05 Your hands shall be on the neck of your enemies. Your father's children will bow down before you. And it talks about the scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh comes. Which is another name for Jesus Christ, and to him shall be the obedience of the people. So basically, the father Jacob was pronouncing blessing on Judah and his descendants, and his descendants. So Jabez somehow realizes, yeah, he is a— he's got more class than he thought. He's coming from a bit— he's the best tribe, you know, of Judah, a tribe that was to be filled with great blessings, including the blessing down the line of Jesus Christ himself.

18:51 So to break the curse that was pronounced over Jabez— you're a pain maker, you're a sorrow maker, you know, you're, you're a troublemaker, you're a grief to me— you know, how many children have been spoken, you're worthless, you're no good, you're a grief to me, you're never going to make— you amount to anything, you were unwanted. Yeah. Or whatever. All of these, these initial words spoken over children. And, and so many of them, actually every word that isn't from God produces and brings forth a curse. And the Bible says the curse, though the cause has not come. So the people are being cursed by the words of this death and life and the power of the tongue. So Jabez got smart.

19:31 He actually went back and looked at his history and he said, well, wait a minute, I'm from the tribe of Judah. And now back to just a second, Jerry, and you said, Jacob the deceiver became Israel, the prince of God. There's another transformation. There's another— yeah, of identity. He was, um, called a deceiver because of what he had to do, was put up to do, or whatever. He was, he was, um, yeah, he was a manipulator. Well, he was a, he was a controller. He was, he was, he was a very deceitful person, but not really. The Lord got a hold of him. Well, Yes and no, because it was his mother that told him in the first place, which was Rebecca told him in the first place to deceive his father Isaac and pretend he was his brother and go get the blessing. So, you know, that's why he got the reputation too. But she, she actually, believe it or not, was being listened to by God because God had this whole plan set up. And it's, it's amazing how we think we know God and then God does something that's totally different. Amidst the evil planning and schemings of people, God's will gets to be taken care of. Yes, so anyway, so he was delivered and his son Jabez, great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson many generations later, also got to be part of the blessing. What happened to Jabez? It says, Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, oh, that you would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory and that your hand would be with me and that you would keep me from evil that I may not cause pain.

21:05 I'm no longer gonna live according to the identity that was given to me by my mother. Yeah, exactly. So God granted him what he requested. Yeah, and this is really what transformation is when people are born again. See, you must be born again, Jesus said. And the reason we must be born again is to start over or to start reconnecting the right way with our spiritual destiny. If you don't, if you're not born again, you just live that dead life, dead life going forward and being under the curses and frustration and anxiety and flipped around and drug around by Satan and circumstances all your life. You must be born again. And if you have been born again, that means you've accepted Jesus Christ. You've surrendered your life. You've acknowledged that he died for you and you don't have to die and that your sins have been paid for.

21:57 And now you're, You're a legitimate heir to the righteousness in the kingdom of God. So when— this is a very big deal. People don't think of it as a very big deal. They don't even know what it means to accept Jesus or be born again. They don't know that it's a transferring, removing, it's a dying. You can't be born again until you die. So you're dying to that old frustrated failure of a life and you're accepting Jesus Christ. Now when you accept Jesus Christ, you're a new baby, a new infant, a new creature. You've still got to be taken care of. So a lot of people who are born again don't know what it means to be born again because they've never been taught, told, or found the right church to tell them or grow them up. So the thing is, if you have that wonderful treasure of being born again, now you're eligible to step into the blessings of God and step out of the curses like Jabez. That was his revelation that, whoa, I am a descendant of a great man. I'm a descendant of a great tribe. I don't have to do this, be this. I can be different. And so, It took some courage on his part, I think some decision-making on his part to accept the truth and come into a better place, which he did, and you can do the same. His old identity became unacceptable to him, and so it says that he called upon the Lord. So we can stop there and say, oh yeah, he called on the Lord. Oh Lord, bless me. And really, the Hebrew language in which this was written originally, If we take the words in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 and,

23:31 and pull out the richness of the original Hebrew language in which this was written, here's what Jabez was doing as he was praying. It says— it would say, and Jabez cried out, implored, called aloud, and shouted and roared like a lion with a specific, a specific sustained message or request addressed specifically to the God of Israel to elicit a specific response to a critical and chronic need to reverse the curses on me and to replace them with specific blessings or benefits, including expanding my boundary, that's giving him more opportunity and influence. And that you would open your hand to me and give me power, and that your provision and direction would come to me, and that you would advance me away— this is interesting— that you would advance me away from adversity, sorrow, trouble, and wickedness, and that it may not carve or fabricate me with worry, pain, anger, hurt, and sorrow.

24:43 And God gave him what he desired and asked for. So he's talking about advancing me. That's interesting. You pushed— advancing me away, making progress from adversity, sorrow, trouble, and wickedness, that this adversity, sorrow, trouble, and wickedness may not carve or fabricate me, shape me, shape me with worry, pain, anger, hurt, and sorrow. So he's now moving down the path following Jesus and being walking away from the pit, away from the hopelessness and the despair. So he— God said yes. Yes. And so, and he interceded. It sounded like he was very intense, very intentional. It was not just a one-time prayer. Oh Lord, bless me.

25:25 You know, no, it was a, it was a full 100% involvement in his, in his prayer and intercession. And I believe that this is what God wants of us too. You know, we can, you know, give lip service to God and all kinds of prayers and all kinds of platitudes and things, but you know what? The cry of our heart, The cry, you know, simply, it doesn't have to be elaborate. It just has to be genuine. For example, when, um, you know, Hagar was out in the wilderness with her son Ishmael and God heard the cry of the son, of the baby, of Ishmael, I suppose he was older, 13 maybe, but the Lord heard that. It wasn't even, it was intense. It was real. It was. So when you cry out to God, let it be real. And maybe it's because we have to get to those places of such desperation before we can actually get real with ourselves. But if you're in that place of desperation, that's a good place to be because now you're just on the threshold of being real and genuine and intense and asking God, petitioning God for your life that he has already saved you. But now he wants— you want to give him your life so he can live his life through you and lead you into the ways of goodness and blessing and prosperity. Jabez came to the place where he was no longer going to accept which was unacceptable as he realized this is, this is not my identity. This is not who I am.

26:46 I'm not here to be under some curse and cause pain. I'm here to be blessed and to be a blessing and to have greater influence for, for, for God and everything. And, and the Lord gave him what he wanted to— amen— when he wanted. So we thank God for that. We thank you, Jesus, for giving us opportunities like this, this to be not only desperate, but directed by that desperation into doing things, crying out, calling unto you, Father, for transformation, not just change, but transformation, conversion, that we'll be transformed by the renewing of our minds. And that this, we don't have to live in these hopeless loop, you know, looping our life. It just loops around and around and again in a cycle of defeat and despair. But we will walk now in the fullness of following you, Jesus. Give us grace. Everyone who's listening today, may they be blessed in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. What about family tree? Oh yeah.
