You have won the war and defeated our enemy, and we are more than conquerors. And I thank you, Lord, that your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth, in and through us.

0:41 We are your kingdom, that your will be done in us. Lord God, let us give place and agreement to your will, your spirit, moving in the midst of our own lives. That we will give place and permission to you to live and move and have your being in us. I thank you, Jesus, that's what you did. You surrendered to the will of the Father, you died in our place, you died for our sins, you paid the penalty, death and debt that they demanded, sin demanded. And you have redeemed us, rescued us, ransomed us. And that you've also given us power and authority, you've restored to us the keys of the kingdom. You said whatever you bind is bound, whatever you loose is loose. Remember these superpowers that God has given us to forgive.

1:24 And as you listen to this today, may the Lord God give you eyes to see, ears to hear, a heart to receive the revelation of God's truth and protection from the enemy. Through the hope, the love, the peace, the mercy of Jesus Christ. Amen. Well, we're talking about a very common subject today. We call it, what about sin? What is sin? And people are so obsessed with all kinds of things that have to do with sin. What is sin? Well, the Bible says in 1 John that sin is a transgression of the law of God. Whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Also, those are two biblical definitions of sin.

2:06 Sin is the transgression of the law. But the question then becomes, what is the law of God? I mean, there's much discussion. In the Old Testament, the whole debate constantly was about the law. Breaking the law, keeping the law. In the Old Testament, it was the strenuous and impossible set of divine commands issued by God through Moses. And these divine commands were deliberately impossible because the whole point for God giving the law was to prove to us that we couldn't keep the law. However, people didn't get that point. They must have missed that. Because they thought that it was all about making them, defining them, conforming them to these strenuous things that they would then not offend God and not sin.

2:49 Well, and then God repeated several different times in the Old Testament that this do and you shall live. Follow the law and you'll live. Right. But nobody could follow the law. Well, you know, the purpose of the law in the Old Testament was to guide the chosen people, God's people, through the wilderness, through the desert, through the pagan, heathen cultures and societies all around them. So he was guiding them, the people of his people, Abraham, and his descendants through that long and turbulent journey from Egypt to Bethlehem and then to Calvary.

3:29 So God's purpose was simply to keep the people who followed these laws distinct from the pagans who were following many other gods and also keep them innocent from the enemy's constant accusations that they were sinning against God or straying away from God. And the law, of course, the law of Moses came long after Abraham. Right. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness. He was considered righteous because of his faith, not because he kept the law of Moses. The law of Moses wasn't even there yet. This is a very important point that most people miss, that Abraham believed God.

4:10 What did he believe? He believed in the promises of God, the promises God had made to him and his descendants, he followed that, you know, followed his whole journey of life was in believing what God said. So this was accounted for righteousness. And later, after the children of Israel had been in Egypt for 430 years, then God gave them the standard that we call the Ten Commandments. But there's many other commandments that were also issued among them. But in Romans, it says, Romans 4 for 15, interesting passage that most people would just fly by, I'm sure. Where there is no law, there is no transgression of the law. So what does that mean? And we who cares? Well, where there is no law, there is no sin.

4:51 There's no transgression of the law. So conversely, where there is a law, there is transgression of the law. And so Satan, you know, when Jesus, well, we'll finish that. But when Satan saw that Jesus Christ had satisfied the demands of sin and death and the law was no longer needed because now the way was open for grace and acceptance of Jesus Christ and his death and salvation. So the law had finished its work. It was completed, Jesus said. When it's finished, the law is satisfied, fulfilled. He fulfilled the law with his death on the cross. The law demanded that the soul that sins should die.

5:35 So the wages of sin was death. But Jesus became the atonement for that sin. And he redeemed those who, all of us, who were under sin. He paid the debt sin demanded. So we were released then from the wages, which was death. So in other words, Jesus established, took down, fulfilled, finished, completed the law, set it aside, and he came and brought a new mandate, which was the New Testament, the law of grace. So, yeah. Excuse me there. In Galatians chapter three, verse 10. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse.

6:21 For it is written, cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. James says, if you keep the whole law and you offend them. In one point, you get the ball. A chain could be three miles long, but if one link is broken, it's a broken chain. Exactly. Verse 11 of Galatians three. But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God. It is evident for the judge to live by faith. Yet the law is not a faith. But the man who does them shall live by them. Christ has redeemed us from what? The curse of the law. Having become a curse for us.

7:01 For it is written, cursed is everyone who hangs on the tree that's on the cross. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles in Christ. That we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith. So the blessing of Abraham. Comes through faith. It comes through obedience and believing in the promises of God. But the problem is when Satan saw that the law had been satisfied. And Jesus had finished the work. Satan was very upset. Because he wanted to keep the law as the primary focus. Which would then make sin the primary consequence of breaking the law. And make him out. Then he would be justified in bringing his curses upon people.

7:42 So in Ephesians chapter two. It says verse one. And you he made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins. So God made us alive. Jesus did. In which you once walked according to the course of this world. According to the prince of the power of the air. The spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience. Among whom you also. We also once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh. Fulfilling the desires of the flesh. And of the mind. And were by nature children of wrath. And just as the others. So he's saying the lust of the flesh. Fulfilling the desires of the flesh. The mind. This is the open door for sin. So these. We were set free from that.

8:23 We died to that. He says. And he says. And you he made alive who were dead. So we are invited. To come into that newness of life. He's alive. We're risen from. He's risen from the dead. That allows us to enter into that. Resurrection power. But if you see. What as you go on here. That God. We were dead. In verse four. But God who is rich in mercy. Because of his great love. With which he loved us. Even when we were dead in trespasses. And sins of course. Made us alive together with Christ. By grace. Listen to this. By grace you have been saved. And raised us up together.

9:03 To make us sit together in heavenly places. In Christ Jesus. By grace. Not by works. Not by. You know keeping ourselves. Perfect. And doing the work ourselves. But by grace. You know bestowed upon us. As mercy. And forgiveness. That in the ages to come. He might show. The exceeding riches of his grace. And his kindness. Towards us. In Christ Jesus. For by grace. You have been saved. Through faith. That not of yourselves. Is the gift of God. Not of works. As anyone should boast. For we are his workmanship. Created in Christ Jesus. For good works. So the good works. Come out of. The work God is doing. In us. Which means we're abiding in him. And out of that. Comes the fruit.

9:43 You have been saved. By faith. Not of yourselves. So the not of yourselves. Part. Has to do with. Trying to be. Perfect. I believe Satan. Has reset the standards. Again. Even for the Christian. Modern church. And it's very wildly. Because. Actually. His. Treacherous. Schemes. Are very. They play right. Into our. Ignorance. Actually. Sin. Is our. Willing decision. To go against. What God. Says. Disobedience. To God. Equals. Obedience. And agreement. With Satan. Or obedience. To the devil. Equals sin. So sin.

10:23 Is our. Is our. Decision. To go against God. What God says. Which is the truth. And to do things. Contrary to the will of God. But. But. Satan makes it look like. The will of God. Is for us to be. To not sin. Of course. That's what it is. But how do we get. To be. In our own. Strength. In our own. Will. Not of our own. Not of ourselves. But that's what we're trying to do. The will of God. Is that we be. Blessed. Do well. Prosper. Stay in the safety. Of his love. And follow Jesus. Who wouldn't want to do that. You ask. But. That the enemy. Twists our desires. To follow Jesus. Into a mandate.

11:03 To be perfect. To be. Sinless. To be. You know. Get rid of our sin. Basically. The purpose of the church. And. Satan's counterfeit. Gospel. Is. To get rid of our sin. Which basically. Is a false gospel. Because our sin. Has been taken care of. Right. And James. Chapter one. Beginning with verse. Fourteen. Through verse. Sixteen. He says. But each one is tempted. When he is drawn away. By his own desires. And enticed. It's like the fish. Being attracted to the. The lure. Yeah. Exactly. Verse. Fifteen. And he says. It gives birth to sin. And sin. When it is.

11:43 Fully. Full grown. Brings forth death. Do not be deceived. My beloved brethren. So. Right. The part of. What happens. Temptation. Is that. In Christ. We become new creation. Become a new creation. All things pass away. All things become new. And what he does. Is he changes. Our desires. You think of what. The desires. That we have. For. I mean. Legitimately. Desires for. Food. For love. For. Comfort. For. Peace. All that sort of stuff. So. But if we're led. Away. Of our own desires. That are. Going against. God.

12:23 Right. Because we. We're listening to the lies. Of the enemy. And then. And he. As God. Changes. Our desires. That's. That's really. What it gets down to. When there's a desire. Change. You don't want. Stuff anymore. You don't want. Sin anymore. Because. You're desiring. Righteousness. You're desiring. Holiness. You're desiring. To. Just. To love the Lord. And to love. One another. But. But that can be a problem. Actually. Our desire. To be like God. Is exactly. What Satan used. To trick Eve. That's exactly. Because. So.

13:03 So the thing is. Your desire. To be sinless. So. Satan. Used. Her. You know. Innate. Desire. For God. To draw her away from God. From truth and life. And purity. And actually ended up. Breaking her relationship with God. By trying to be. More like God. She wanted to be more. So that's why she ate off the tree. She thought. Well she was enticed. Absolutely enticed. Because enticement. Attracts you to something beautiful. And something that's pleasurable. So when she looked at that fruit. She says it's beautiful. She said it's pleasant to the eye. She says good for food. And it will make me wise. So she was. Being enticed. Seduced. By a desire. She had to be. More like God. Not realizing that her relationship.

13:43 With God. Was already. Fully complete. And it was just a matter of. Walking in it. So Satan. Can use your desire. For good things. For justice. Truth. Mercy. Righteousness. Sinlessness. Perfection. He can use your desire. For holiness. Against you. Because he's that. Tricky. So Satan's wily schemes. He used those. Desire. With. His enticing. This is. We go back to James. Tempted. When you're enticed. When you're enticed. So he's. James 1. 14. He's enticing. Luring. Seducing. Bewitching. Beguiling. Bewildering. He is. Using her desire.

14:23 To be more like God. To sin against herself. And God. And this is exactly. What Satan does. All the time. And you know what? We get into that place again. In Ephesians. Where he says. Let's see. Doing it. Not of yourselves. It's a faith and grace. Not of yourselves. So. Whatever we're trying to do. Ourself. To amend. Or add to. Or complete. The work of the. Christ on the cross. Is. Basically an insult to the cross. Because you're saying. Well he did what he did. Wasn't enough. I have to. Be good to prove it. Now here's the problem. We're already. You know. We're being enticed. And that enticement. The law. In Ephesians 2. 14. 15. It's war.

15:03 Or war. Between us and God. Now. Do we want enmity? Do you want war? Well what is the. Strength of the law? It's sin. And what did the Pharisees want to do? They wanted to keep the law. So that they could keep the power. So that they could keep the people in fear of sinning. So that they could force them to do all these. Things that were now obsolete. And also just. Just enthroned them. In their positions of power. And so. When God says. We're done with all this. This demonic. Enclavement. To the law. And to the. Keepers of the law. Do you want war. Between you and God? You say. Well. When I sin. I'm at war with God. Well yes. When you try to get rid of your sin.

15:43 You're also at war with God. Because the sin has already been taken care of. And we haven't believed it. So now. That you know. The commandment. Of our consciences. And the church. And the community. The message is. Basically. Condensed into a couple of simple words. The church. The modern church says. Stop sinning. Get rid of sin. Stop sinning. Get rid of your sin. But that is actually a false gospel. And a trap. Because. If you knew who you were. We wouldn't be obsessed. With trying to get rid of our sin. And be good. And be perfect. And perform. And compete. We wouldn't be wrapped up. In trying harder. And punishing ourselves. And judging others. And judging ourselves. And falling into the pit. Of trying harder. Not to sin. If we knew who we were. Being afraid of sinning. Being afraid of sinning. People are afraid and not afraid.

16:23 Of sinning. And we don't know. What God is. We don't know. But we know. People are afraid. Not only. You've got it. The one side of the coin. They're all about sinning. And they're ready to do it. On the drop of a hat. And they don't have any. And they have no real. Strength against it. Because they don't know. Who they are. But once you're a believer. We are traumatized. On the other side. Okay. Oh no. I'm going to sin. If I sin. Which all sounds good. And commendable. To be afraid of sinning. Not to sin. Don't sin. But we are falling. Into a wily. Demonic. Very. Very seductive. Very. Undiscerning. Trap. Twisting us. Into using.

17:03 Our God-given desire. For love. And goodness. And righteousness. And peace. To destroy us. So. Sin. Whether you're trying to avoid it. Or committing it. Sin. Eats away. At our soul. What do we need to do. About sin? It's already been. Done. It's already been. It's already been done. On the cross. I mean. John. 1930. So. So. The sin issue. Has been dealt with. Right. Right. But sinning has not. For example. In 1st John. He says. Don't say you have no sin. Because then you call God a liar. So. He's writing to believers. He's saying. You're going to still sin.

17:43 But it's like. Okay. He doesn't. He says there. He says. I read unto you. That you sin not. But if any man sin. Confess. We have an advocate. The father. Jesus Christ. Who is faithful. And just to forgive us. Our sins. And to cleanse us. From all. Unrighteousness. So. In. Here's the deal though. When you try not to sin. Sin not only eats away at our soul. The fact is. We're going to sin. But. Trying not to sin. Does the same thing. That sin does. It creates in us. An obsession. With not sinning. Or. You know. Sinning. And not sinning. The obsession with. And trying to get rid of them. Is both. The same.

18:23 End result. The guilt. The self-condemnation. The shame. The anxiety. And the end is the same result. Alienation from God. So. What is the answer then? The answer is not in trying to be good. Not to sin. It's a distortion. A distraction. From the truth. Which is. I do not even want to sin. I don't want to sin. Because I'm made by a holy God. And he made me in his image and likeness. I'm made by God to love truth. And pursue peace. Righteousness. And holiness. I'm made by God to love truth. And pursue peace. Righteousness. And holiness. I'm made by God to love truth. And pursue peace. Righteousness. And holiness. So. If I know who I am. I know where I'm from. If I know my origin. If I know that God has created me in his image and likeness. Then this sin issue becomes one.

19:04 Not so much of. You know. Me trying to perfect that. Which concerns me. But it becomes. Sin becomes. Being aware of. And walking in the. The wisdom of the Holy Spirit. So that you don't fall into the sin traps. Because you don't want to sin. You know. And obviously Satan. Pulls us into these pits. So that he can beat us up. Make us feel guilty. And give us all kinds of demonic remedies. Like religion. Or penance. Or guilt. And shame. And condemnation. And none of this is the fruit of heaven. And so. God's truth is. Come unto me. You know. Confess your sins. Repent. When you fall into temptation. When you get tricked. When you get deceived. It's not who you are.

19:44 You fell in the mud puddle. You got pushed. Whatever. You're muddy. Let's wash you off. And let's give you the new robes of righteousness. You are washable. You're not depraved because you sin. However. Sin can cause a lot of very depraved things. And the devil can operate through human beings. To do some very very very incredibly unspeakably depraved things. In human beings. When he allures them. Entices them to sin. So. Trying to be good. And not sin. Is as much a distraction to the truth. As trying to be good. Trying not to sin. So. Because we're made in the image of God. We need to know who we are. And that we want God's goodness.

20:27 So every remedy Satan gives you. Condemnation. Oh by the way. Look at the look at the Pharisees in Mark chapter 7. Where Jesus was scolding them. And I mean he was after them. Because they were picking on people. They were washing the insides and outsides of the cups. It says here. The Pharisees verse chapter 7 Mark verse 1. The Pharisees and some of the sad scribes came together to him having come from Jerusalem. Now these are the top dogs right. Now when they saw some of the disciples eat bread with the father's unwashed hands. They found fault. So they took this as an opportunity to come against Jesus's followers.

21:10 And they started to say well the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands in a special way. According to traditions of the elders when they come from the marketplace they don't eat till they wash. Like they wash cups and silver and platters and copper vessels. Then the Pharisees and scribes said why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders but eat with unwashed hands. And Jesus you know began to blast and he said well did Isaiah say to you people honor me with your lips but your heart is far from me in vain teaching the doctrines of and commandments of men. Laying aside the commandment of God you hold the traditions of men washing of cups and pitchers. He said all too well you reject the commandment of God and that you may keep your traditions.

21:54 And then he goes on to talk to them about how they twisted around this honor your father and your mother thing to be you know more profitable for them an excuse not to protect and defend and honor their parents. And then he says not everything that goes into it. There's nothing that enters a man from the outside that can defile him. So they were busy being perfect. They were busy washing the outsides the insides of their their cups and their platters and he says but he says what comes out of a man that defiles and he says for from within out of the heart of men perceives evil thoughts are adulteries fornications murders deaths covetousness wickedness deceit licentiousness and evil eye blasphemy pride and foolishness.

22:35 All these evil things come from within and defile a man. So he that is Mark Chapter 7 verse 21 there about that coming out of the heart. The thing is so what he is saying is out of the heart. The abundance of the heart the mouth speak so you what your heart is full of is going to come out whether it comes out in your actions or in your words so you find out what's going on in your side in yourself. Listen to your heart. Listen to what comes out. Watch. But he's but these notice these Pharisees they were they got to the point where they were so they were OCD. They were so a pulse obsessive compulsive and trying to make sure that the pictures were clean and and the cops were clean and he says but inwardly he said you are full of extortion and wickedness. OK. So what was it doing.

23:17 What was all their outward activity doing to keep them pure. Nothing. It was actually making them the bigger hypocrite in Galatians 5 16 says walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. No walking in the spirit is a real kind of nebulous kind of thing we think that we think it's like oh that's just for the super spiritual it sounds like walking in the spirit it's kind of a catchphrase but it is to be the normal Christian life you know watchman he wrote a book years ago called The Normal Christian Life and it's about Roman going through Romans and seeing that we are to live in the spirit live in the spirit like a fish lives in water.

24:03 Yeah. Our atmosphere is the spirit. The whole thing the whole law is fulfilled in this that you love your neighbor as yourself that you love the Lord your God. Yes the law. The Pharisees asked him what's the great commandment in the law. He says it's he says it's the love the Lord your God with all your heart soul mind the strength and your neighbor as yourself. And he's given us the spirit of God to live in the spirit. It's not a matter of we will we'll fulfill the moral law like the stuff about the ceremonial law was fulfilled in Jesus a lot of that stuff in this ceremonial trying to say that right there.

24:47 Well the whole law was was fulfilled in Jesus that it was just little pictures little hints of who Jesus is and what he would be doing. But he said if you walk in the spirit you know you will fulfill the law. The law is fulfilled in this that you love one another and that you love one another and that you love the Lord your God coming into the place where the Lord just transforms our hearts. A lot of people we have that holy desire desire to walk with him. Well the problem is that people don't get converted. They they still try to serve God in their flesh in their mind will and emotions in their reasoning and trying to be good.

25:31 And obviously you know obviously if you if you walk in the spirit you're not going to have to worry about that so much because it's already who you're walking in who you already are and you don't even want to sin. And so you're going to avoid wickedness and bitterness and contempt and gossip. You're going to just kind of steer away because walking in the spirit of God but led by the spirit is not going to lead you into sin. He says you know walk in the spirit you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh the flesh comes from your body and your soul your emotions and imagination and your insecurities and all that stuff. But the spirit of God is really what that means walking in that spirit is you're walking in sync with God his spirit bearing witness with your spirit once you're saved you can walk in the spirit God's spirit very verifying confirming leading directing and comforting you so his spirit bearing witness with our spirit.

26:26 But that doesn't happen until you you're the spirit of a man is the candle of the Lord until that candle gets lit basically through salvation or accepting Jesus Christ and then God's spirit you're you're now you're you're spirit is activated and ready to receive the revelation of the download of God's spirit to our spirit. Now this is a higher level of walking in in a relationship with God than just do don't and do don't and don't do this and go there and do this and jump over this and this hoop and you know genuflect over here and you know put holy water on over there. This is not that this is walking in the spirit. This is be kind one to another. This is love your neighbor as yourself.

27:06 This is the things we cannot do unless we have the spirit of God inspiring us to do them. It's the spirit of God. Basically what happens is the fruit of the spirit. This is what God's looking for. He the fruit of the spirit love joy peace long suffering gentleness goodness faith mercy and self-control all those things. What are those things characteristics of God of Jesus and it's the fruit of the spirit in us. It's not the fruit of you trying to do something. It's the fruit. It's the results of the spirit of God coming through you as a human vessel in going back to the treachery and the trickery that Satan has webbed around thin and getting rid of your sin because he knows we hate sin so much and then the other side you got the other side the coining of people are so trapped in sin that they feel like there there's no hope for them.

28:02 But so when we desire like the little fish you desire something whatever you desire that fisherman that deceiver is going to figure out what that is and put that on the end of the hook like the lie hook. And so if you're desiring to be pure and perfect then you're going to in your state is going to tempt you and say OK well then you got to do this this and this and don't do that and don't step on the cracks and you know what impossible and perfection always raises the standard and so you never can be perfect enough. But anyway so if you try to do that yourself you're going to become actually mentally ill. I believe you're going to be mentally ill and tormented and schizophrenic and obsessed and OCD and anxious and all that other stuff.

28:43 And that's why people are anxious because they don't know they're they can have peace with God. And like you mentioned the Pharisees and the site he's back in the old busy busy. They got to be so OCD they had to they made so many laws extra laws so they wouldn't send so you wouldn't send it yet at the same time. But the law creates them. They were vicious. They were greedy. They were lustful. And they determined to kill Jesus. They had to on every day had to. They decided he was messing up their system their system. And today the same thing is true for the true church of Jesus Christ.

29:25 Right now the true church of Jesus Christ is a major threat to the enemy's plan but it's also no threat at all because hardly nobody even knows the truth anymore about what God wants of us and what he's able to do through us because we're all so so pulled into the drama of these end days you know divisions. But go back to this. Perfect peace. He'll keep him in perfect peace whose mind is saved by him. So the sin if you think you need to get rid of more sin ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in to righteousness and truth and confess your sin when when the Holy Spirit shows you something like bitterness that's a big one bitterness and pride.

30:06 People don't want to admit they're wrong. They don't want to admit they've held grudges. They don't want to forgive. So if the Holy Spirit leads you to forgive release that person from that judgment release yourself from that judgment. That's how you walk in freedom. That's how you walk in the in the provision and deliverance from the power of the law and it's condemnation. Yeah there's a little poem I heard years ago that really talks a lot about this. To run and work the law commands but it gives me neither feet nor hands. What better news the gospel brings it bids me fly and gives me wings. There you go.

30:47 So Father God we thank you for this this amount of stuff that we said they please open the hearts the minds of the people are hearing to think about it to meditate on it to go to you with it ask you to show them the freedom that actually the law and sin bring war make us set up enmity between you and us Lord God and we don't want war. We don't want we want you so Lord God let us walk in the place where Jesus Christ is tore down that wall of partition between us and we can now walk in the spirit of God hand in hand with him doing his bidding be like Jesus do what Jesus did you know heal the sick cleanse the lepers raise the dead bring back the King Father God we ask these things now in Jesus holy precious name.

31:30 Amen. There's a book that you have called cravings that deals a lot with our desires. That's right. Yeah.
