0:00 I have an emergency. What is your location? Rescue Radio, because there is a war for your soul. Yes, Father God, we thank you for the victory in this war. We thank you, Lord Jesus, for your soon coming. We thank you for coming the first time. We thank you, Lord, that you are keeping your promises. Altogether, everyone, even the details of how the predictions, the prophecies were fulfilled in your first coming, and now as we are reading the signs and the stars in the society all over the place of your coming again, Lord God, we thank you for preparing your people that we will not grow weary in well-doing. And I thank you, Jesus, for giving encouragement, inspiration, joy, energy to your people that we will walk in the fullness of your victory, of your finished work, and not look at what it looks like, but look at what you said, and look and walk with your encouragement. We bind the powers of darkness that will come against your people to create any kind of weariness, anxiety, fear, futility.

1:24 Father, we bind those spirits that would try to lay a wet blanket over the top of our heads. Lord, and we ask that you take the veil off our eyes and heads so we can see what's really going on with clarity and know what's going on and have the energy and the anointing and the authority to stand in having done all to stand in these last days. I thank you also for the promise that no weapon formed against us will prosper, that the enemy is thoroughly defeated, and what he does is works with a lot of smoke and mirrors and freak out and fear to push people into making decisions, giving him power and exalting him when he is to be defeated and has been and is being defeated. So, Lord God, guide our minds, our hearts, our eyes. Let us hear with our ears today and let it sink down into our hearts and our souls and let our eyes see what's going on and with clarity that we will not be confused and deceived by this day and age and what Satan is trying to do here. Father, we ask these things in Jesus' name.

2:20 Amen. So, we're talking about following Jesus and what that looks like in kind of practical terms in terms of the Word of God, reading through again some of the passages in Romans chapter 12. Yeah, last time we started with verse 9 of Romans 12, let love be without hypocrisy, abhor, which means hate or despise what is evil, cling to what is good, and then verse 10, being kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love and honor, giving preference, King James says preferring one another, and then today here we're landing on verse 11, not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. So, Marjorie, what do we mean here by diligence, not lagging in diligence?

3:16 In other words, how would you define diligence? Well, I don't know how to define it. It's steady, faithful, continuation. You keep at it. Yeah, you're walking in that place of diligent pursuit, not looking to the right or to the left, being faithful in the little things God has put before you. He's who is faithful in that which is least will be also faithful in that which is much. And so, I'd say that's diligent pursuit. Jesus said, you can't serve me with lip service. It's really what does James say? He says, faith without works is dead. And so, you cannot say, I love you, I love you, I love you, Jesus, and not be diligent in doing what he's asking us to do.

4:04 Well, diligence speaks of sticking with something. You keep doing it and you'd be diligent. Whatever your project is, if you're painting the interior of your house, and a lot of people hate painting, but you keep doing it until it's done. So many projects are like that. You stay at it. You don't just give up right away. You don't get freaked out or just weary of it. You just keep doing it. Not lagging in diligence, serving the Lord. You've got a definition. Diligence is, in the dictionary, is a quality. And again, let me say something about the dictionary. If you have a 1928 dictionary, you're going to have probably a different definition with verses and biblical scriptures to back it up, as opposed to what we have in the dictionary nowadays. And so, you might want to get yourself an older copy of the dictionary to know what's really going on. But diligence is a quality of consistent, careful, and persistent effort applied to a task or a duty, often combining speed with thoroughness.

5:12 It represents dedication, industrious work, rather than negligent or lazy behavior ensuing tasks that are completely, you know, to complete them. And so, again, I think we have some, you know, this can be in many areas. You can have it in the area of professionalism, legalism, or business, legal law, professional development. Some of the symptoms are industrious, persistent, conscientious, and I think this is what, vigilance, heedfulness. These work for the Christian faith as well, is to consistently pursue that goal or effort with, in our case, with the anointing and the authority of God.

6:00 I really believe that so many times we want to do something. We're all about doing stuff in some ways. We're either on that side of we're totally lazy and don't want to do anything and everything is nothing is going to work and it's all hope deferred and, you know, don't even want to get off the couch kind of thing. And then on the other side, you've got people who are rambunctious to do everything, but they're not really, yeah, but they're not doing it in a consistent way that's diligent with the pursuit of what God has in mind and his agenda. And I think this is the key, diligence in the pursuit of the things of God. Yeah, exactly. That's really what it means here. And it says along with that, being fervent in spirit, being hot, being intense in spirit. So you're not just poking along.

6:48 You have a purpose. There's a fire, there's a purpose, there's a burning in your heart. I think in the Old Testament there was the sacrifice on the altar. The altar, the fire was to be kept in the tabernacle and in the temple. The fire was always to be kept burning, right? It shall never go out. You had to keep feeding the fire. So you have to keep feeding the fire with the word of God and the spirit of God. Well, you know, that fervent is a passion. Having a passion, an intense or sincere enthusiasm, emotion, belief, passion, pursuit. You know, we could call it in our case joy, confidence in the truth, knowing the truth, standing not in a place of double-minded, not in a place of doubtful, double-minded hesitation, but in a place of knowing that I know what I know. And this comes out of your spirit. In your soul there's always going to be the dilemma, there's the delay, there's the alternate argument for whatever. So it kind of slows you down.

7:56 But in your spirit you can be fervent and know that you know what you know. And when you know that you know what you know, and you know that God is coming and he's good and his word is true, then you can also know pretty much what to do. And so fervent, emotional, intentional, enthusiastic, it refers to, in this word fervent, refers to a deep dedication in feelings, religion, or cause to whatever it is you're endeavoring to do. And whatever you do, I think it says in Proverbs or Ecclesiastes, whatever you do, do it with all your might.

8:40 So there's that, again, you can live your life half-heartedly, you can live it with apathy, indifference, and a lot of people do. They waste their time, they waste their, actually, time is a living thing, and when you're wasting your time, or frittering it away, or killing time, whatever all that, that's murder by the way, you are not getting the full benefit out of your time here on the Earth. And so I believe fervent love, fervent enthusiastic, fully engaged in what you're doing and pursuing for God, not lacking or lagging in diligence. And what can cause us to lag? Well, pain can cause us to lag, a broken heart, broken spirit, hope deferred makes the heart sick, so it's easy, the devil is trying to slow us down, get us to give only half lip service to God, you know, it's just like, okay, so there's this dilemma between, let God do it, and I've got to do it.

9:56 So the question is, was God supposed to do it, or am I supposed to do it, or what am I supposed to do? So this becomes a discussion point that people actually trip over. You know what, the only way to answer that is what is the Spirit of God putting in your spirit to do? You know, He doesn't ask us to do everything that needs to be done. I mean, if I try to do everything that I see that needs to be done, I would get nothing done, because I would just stall out. What did Jesus say? He said, I only do what I see the Father doing. I see what the Father is doing, and I enter into that.

10:36 So, I mean, yeah, theoretically, He could have done so many different things, but same way with us, too. There has to be a focus, and when we're focusing in that zeal, right, for God, that desire, that fervency, when that's there, it inspires other people. You know, I mean, who's inspired by somebody that's boring? You know, I mean, a lot of Christians, so-called Christians, are very, very boring. They're just like, come on. They don't have any interest in what they're doing themselves.

11:16 But, you know, intensity, I think intensity and the demand of the circumstances and the hour that we're in calls for all hands on deck. It calls for intensity, it calls for paying attention, and going back to listening to what the Spirit says to do. The Spirit is not going to tell you to do everything, but the Spirit is all about timing, too. It's about timing and listening, and people will say, well, I don't know how to do it. Well, yeah, you do, but you don't think you do, and so you listen to your mind and your reasoning. In the soul software, there's reasoning, and there's reality, and there's responsibility, and there's religion, and rationalizing, but that's not walking in the Spirit. The Spirit of God just tells you what to do.

12:00 You just listen, and you know. You listen, and you know. And some people say, well, I'm trying to figure out, you know, this, this, and this, and how does this work, and where is this going to go, and how is this going to fit, and da-da-da-da. Well, you're in that place of pondering something, trying to figure it out, but at the same time, you're also listening to the Spirit of God telling your spirit what to do, and maybe He hasn't given you the full measure of understanding in it yet, but the thing is, you're going to follow, and listen, and wait, and so it doesn't mean, you know, fervent in Spirit doesn't mean you have to be frenzied. It doesn't mean that you've got to be doing something every second, it doesn't mean that you're not spiritual. It means fervent in Spirit, you know, faithful, fervent, enthusiastic, whether you're enthusiastic about standing there waiting to hear from God, or you're enthusiastic about pounding the nail on the board, or driving the car, or preaching the Gospel somewhere, it's, you're just always, you're always 100% present in your life. That's what that really means.

13:00 And the only way you can be 100% present in your own life is to be aware of the presence of God in your life. And when you're passionate for something, whatever it is, for your job, or sport, or whatever it is, you're inspiring to others. You know, someone said, if other people don't know your passion, you don't have one. And so, and going on here too, serving the Lord with that diligence and zeal and anointing. First of all, serving God, because God is all about your family. He is all in favor of you providing or abiding and being with them, being present for them, whether you're the parent, you're there present for your children, listening to them, encouraging them, praying for them. If you're the child, it's to obey your parents, keep your eyes on them and what they're asking.

13:56 So you know one another just by the way you look at, see one another through love, eyes of love. And I think this is in these last days, the problem is lagging in diligence. There's so many people out there that could be doing being abiding, being available to God for something, and they're sick. They're in pain. They're all tangled up with trying to get rid of their sin. I think one of the most subtle of all Satan's tricks is to make us afraid to do something, because we might sin afraid. Or we might fail.

14:40 We don't want to look stupid or be laughed at, so we do nothing. And again, we don't make decisions because we don't want to make a mistake. This is all about me, getting rid of my sin. This is about fear. If you're living in fear, you're not going to be fervent about anything. And it's not about us. So see, fervent in spirit. Let the spirit of God make your spirit hot. If we're hot for God, like you said, it's going to catch on. It's going to be contagious. It's going to spark the fires in other people.

15:20 And it's going to cause people to do to reconsider, look at, examine their own life, their own behavior, and see, do I want to give God do I want to be 20% fruitful or do I want to be 100% fruitful? You get to choose. Are there people around you that would like to be like you? They would like to have your zeal? You hear about certain people that have these magnetic personalities. They light up a room when they walk in. We're the light of the world.

16:00 We should be lighting up the rooms wherever we are. We should be there and in that place with the anointing, with the joy, with the zeal of the Lord. It's not that we're just obnoxious. There's people that just supposedly have this zeal for the Lord. We're not obnoxious because it's just a big show. But when you have a real passion for the Lord It's contagious. It's genuine. And that's what fuels it and keeps it burning. It's like that candle or that light in the temple.

16:40 It was always to be burning all the time. It's fueled by that devotion, by that consistent of love, the power of God. And I believe that this can be ours. We don't have to grow weary. Yes, we will be attempted to grow weary, but God will keep us. He can keep us burning in that fervent, conscientious and focused pursuit of God, however that looks. It really comes from knowing that you're loved by God. Knowing that you love Him. And that is the thing the enemy tries to keep from us more than anything else is the true passionate, compassionate love of God for us.

17:24 And the way the devil does it is by drawing our attention to our failures and to the ways we've stumbled and to the ways that we've failed God. And so we're not looking at God's love, we're looking at our failures. And then we judge God by judging ourselves. I'm not worthy of God's love. Judging God as His love is conditional. It's based on my performance. And that's, again, judging God. God is love. He is the source of unconditional love. God loves us. He doesn't love everything we do. But God knows everything we're going to do from the very beginning. He has to because He's God. He knows everything. And He loves us still.

18:04 And He died to us. He says they're still worth dying for. I think of Galatians 6, verse 9, King James says faint. So it's about where we're talking about diligence there. And we keep doing the right thing. The crop's going to come. The reaping is going to come. The results are going to come. We might not see all the results of our activity, of what we're called to do by the Lord in this life. It is our faithfulness, not simply our faithfulness, but it is our faithfulness in that process.

18:44 Yes, a lot of the outcomes, the fruitfulness, the harvest, is going to depend upon our obedience. Obedience really is the demonstration of our love to God. Jesus said it in John, if you love me, keep my commandments. Does that mean you've got to do something? It means that out of your love for Him, you will want to keep the commandments. And what is the commandment? The commandment is simple. It's love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and your neighbor as yourself. Do not put idols in between you and God.

19:24 You say, well, I don't worship golden calves. Well, yeah, you might not worship a golden calf, but you might worship money or you might worship, mostly I think people worship fear. They're afraid to do something for God because they're afraid that it's going to be a disaster, run out of money, they'll look bad, whatever. A lot of times, we're operating out of putting fear or lack in between us and God. And so then we're judging God by our own failure or failure to be perfect or whatever it all looks like.

20:04 We get all tangled up and it's all about me getting rid of my sin when Jesus Christ already got rid of sin and He just said, okay, that's taken care of, now follow me and I will perfect that which concerns you. But we still say, no, I got to perfect myself by doing things. But the thing is, again, obedience is simply trusting and abiding and going forward in what God says. What he says is right. When he said, have no other gods before me, when he said that, the days he was saying, every other nation had false gods. They were all sacrificing their children. They had the mythological gods.

20:48 They were worshiping the sun, the moon, the stars, everything that you can imagine. They were worshiping, giving the power of God, attributing that power, that source of life, attributing it to a sun god or to a moon god or to a whatever. And actually attributing all that to demons. Right. Because behind every idol, there's demonic powers. That animate the idol. So the idol doesn't do anything. It's a stick, it's a stone, it's a stump, it's an object. Or an emotion. Or fear. Like fear. And so behind every one of those things that's animating that is a demonic entity with an intelligence, with the mind, with an agenda to destroy us. And so when we're following Jesus, you let the Lord guide your steps, and you let the Lord correct your heart, and you let the Lord build the house, and you let the potter shape the vessel. And we just be and let him do. But in that vessel, in shaping that vessel, he might be shaping you to be an instrument of righteousness in his hands. He might be shaping you to be a vessel that carries water or drink or truth to a nation. Whatever it is, just the more we surrender to him, the more he can do for and through us. It's just that simple.

22:20 In verse 12 of Romans chapter 12. 12, 12, here we are. Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. So rejoicing in hope. Hope is in the biblical sense is not, well I hope everything works out, okay. I hope this is going to go good for me. No, hope is, it's a sure expectation of good. Right? That all things are going to work together for good. And then even in the midst of tribulation. Well Philippians, Paul says rejoice, and again I say rejoice in everything, give thanks. I mean thank, he says, and this takes away anxiety by the way if you're having problems with anxiety, he says in chapter 4 he says be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses or goes beyond all understanding.

23:20 You won't even know how it happens, but it will guard your heart and your minds through Christ Jesus. And then he says whatever things, finally brethren whatever things are true, are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there's any virtue, if there's any praise, praiseworthy, meditate on these things. So what he's saying is you've got to, what you meditate on becomes the source from which you draw your words, your hope, and so when you're hoping in God, meditating on God, and reading about God's faithfulness, then we begin to have peace so that the anxiety doesn't overtake us.

24:04 He says rejoice in the Lord, again I say rejoice. So rejoicing and thanksgiving are the two activities that you can do anytime, all the time and whenever you don't know what else to do. So if you don't know what else to do and you want to do something, express something, express some thanksgiving to God. I tell you what, if we begin to thank God for little things, big things, things you might have taken for granted things, just things that you see how he's helped you, how he's worked in your life, how he's with you how many times you have a big prayer out there and it doesn't seem to get answered and then some little thing you just kind of slips through your mind for a second and it's just kind of, oh that would be nice to have, whatever and sure enough it shows up, it's right there, I mean and you just prayed it you didn't even pray it, hardly you thought it. So in thinking on what sort of things are pure love, the honest, just, and good, God wants to be in our thoughts, he wants to be in constant communion with us, conversation fellowship, you say well I don't hear God, well a lot of people think they hear God and they're not hearing God, actually they're hearing an antichrist spirit or false Jesus but a lot of people think I don't have that, everybody else they get slain in the spirit and I don't get nothing and you know what, that's goofiness you don't have to be slain in the spirit to walk in the spirit, okay, and I don't even know if a lot of people, I don't even see that as something that happened in the Bible, maybe Daniel fell down before

25:36 the angel and that wasn't slain in the spirit, he just fell down on his knees I think we get so goofy in thinking I don't hear God you know God doesn't talk audibly to us, very rarely he does do it, we have examples when he did it when Jesus was baptized for example but we get these notions that if I don't have these experiences I'm really not spiritual, that's not true, you can't base your spirituality on your soul, on your emotions or your experiences you have to base your spirituality on the word of God and the Holy Spirit that says that we belong to him, he said follow me he didn't say, we have these ideas of what it looks like to follow God and that I have to have all these experiences but that's not true, he's not based on an emotional experience, he's not based on anything but the truth, so as you want more of God, know more of God hear more about God, read his words and then you'll have more of God that's what he, because his word to us is all of these things he wants so rejoicing in hope, now here's another problem with hope you know I say well I'm not going to hope anymore because if I hope then I get disappointed so I'm just not going to care anymore about anything. Well the Bible says hope deferred makes the heart sick but when the desire comes it is a tree of life, so there's hope that's deferred we hope hope hope and it just seems like it doesn't come to pass what do we do in those situations? Well we keep going we hope in God, my hope is in God, God doesn't change

27:08 what does he say in Romans chapter 5 he says therefore having been justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God and not only that but we also glory in tribulations knowing that tribulations produces perseverance, perseverance character so God is developing us through the character and the character brings forth hope now hope does not disappoint because the love of God is poured out in us in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us, so if you have hope in God you won't be disappointed does not disappoint, now hope that does not disappoint is based on the love of God for you that's poured out so things may look terrible, tribulation, wilderness nobody's coming, it looks like things have fallen apart but your hope is not in the circumstances or how people show up or whatever they don't show up, your hope is in God and God is in control and God has got a way and God's figured it out and it's not your problem so you don't have to defer your hope unless you're putting the hope in some specific event or something that has to happen for you to be okay, yeah and then he says patient in tribulation, John 16.33 says these things I have spoken to you that in me

28:40 you may have peace, in the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world so you're going to have trouble, what does James say about that joy, tribulation, trials don't be surprised, Peter said at the tribulation, the trials count it all joy, when you fall into various trials yeah, count it all joy, so it's like really, how do I do that and he says for that the testing of your faith works patience so that patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing, so God's way of perfecting us is through trials through testing, yeah patient in tribulation, in other words you don't freak out, you say okay I'm going to get through this, there's trouble and it's shaping us it's shaping us, it's not that we're getting in trouble because we're doing something stupid, we're getting in trouble because we're doing something right, Jesus did everything right he said everything right, he moved correctly but he was surrounded by attacks all the time, and you're not going to it's not a cake walk, that's for sure this following Jesus, but as you in the midst of tribulation, you're patient, and you're continuing steadfastly in prayer, he goes on to say

30:12 you keep praying, you keep walking, don't be surprised if people reject you and don't like you, but don't get all molly mooed about it, it's just like it's an honor, it's an honor to be rejected for the cause of Christ, and that will happen and Philippians Paul is talking about, he's sitting in jail in chapter 1 verse 12, but I want you to know brethren that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, he's saying my being in jail, locked up in here, is turning out bringing good things to pass, so that it has been evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ so the soldiers, the guard, they saw that this was something God was doing, and he says, and most of the brethren in the Lord have become confident in my chains, and are much more bold to speak the word without fear, so most of the brethren thought that this was God was doing this, God was getting glory out of it, God was working something here out together for good, he says some indeed, and then he says, so they're confident there, but others could be saying, well, the reason he's in jail is because God is mad at him, God is judging him, because he did something wrong, and so a lot of times we get in trouble, like I think Peter and the gang got in trouble almost landed in jail right away after they got filled with the Holy Spirit because they were preaching in the name of Jesus, they raised that guy, he's walking and leaping and praising God, they're healing people, so they all get locked in jail

31:44 and then, you know, so the next day, the guard sends for them, and they're all gone all of them, I don't know how many there were, all 12 of them, or 120, I don't know how many were locked up, but they were all gone, and where were they? They found them back in the temple how do they get out of jail, when they put people around, and then Peter, the second time he got in jail, he had people hooked to him, handcuffed to him two guys, one on each side, and then the double lock a prison guy watching the gate and he still got out, okay, he, how because you say, well, he was in trouble, you know, hope he wasn't doing it right, no, no, no, all this worked for the glory of God and sometimes when we're in trouble, and we're giving up on hope and we're in tribulation, it is for the glory of God and then Paul and Silas too, they continued steadfast in prayer all night remember, when they were locked in the jail?

32:44 Paul and Silas, they were praising at midnight, they were beaten up they had a wound, they were bleeding, locked in the stocks in some digidink prison, probably with mice and rats crawling around it and they began to praise the Lord, and the prisoners heard them praising God, and then what happened, God sent an earthquake and they got out, and got to preach to the Philippian jailer and he and his family gave their lives to Christ so they were in the middle of a big tribulation don't freak out when you're in trouble and when in the middle of a tribulation, if you can sing, if you can rejoice, if you can praise God that'll rock heaven, that's the best way to get through that'll rock the foundations, that'll open the prison's doors be patient and rejoice in this they counted it worthy, they rejoiced they said, hey, we got beat up for Jesus they were praising God for it, not because they were masochists but they said, oh, okay, the Lord said this kind of thing was going to happen and they rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for His name it was a sign of honor a sign of proof of their worthiness and so patient in tribulations and going back to James for a second again, he says, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience

34:16 but let patience, or the perfecting of us, have as perfect work that you may be complete I already read this, and perfect, complete, lacking nothing but the thing is, most of us when we're going into a trial, we start murmuring we start complaining, we start grumbling, we start second guessing why me God, and instead of saying, yeah, this is counted all joy I don't think we recognize our trials as important processes that we go through to perfect that which concerns us and make us righteous in God so again, counting it all joy and being thankful, those are the keys, be thankful, rejoice and count it all joy, and then you'll be able to face that trial with a way better attitude and God is going to hear you by opening those prison doors and the Bible says to rejoice in the Lord always and again, I say rejoice, you can always be thankful you can always rejoice, no matter what circumstance you're in so Father, we thank you for the trials and tribulations that you're using to perfect that which concerns us and those around us not to grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we will reap if we do not faint and so Lord God, for those who are in long trials health issues, five, seven, ten twelve years in bitter pursuits of these things being ground down and afraid, people, let us all

35:48 go back to counting it all joy and resting in you and deliver us from evil, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, Father, for all those who are suffering today in trials we pray that you would give them encouragement and that you'd lift them bring them back into the light of day and release them from their prison houses Father, for the glory of Jesus Christ your Son, Amen Doing relationships God's way that pertains, a lot of what we've been sharing here today has to do with relationships with one another Can you tell us a little bit about that book?
